Never Give Up

"Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it." ~Hebrews 12:11

Well, isn't that encouraging to know? Most people tend to grumble, complain, self-pity, or even crumble through their trials. God agrees that no trials are joyful at the time they happened. However, when we are going through our trials, always remember that when the trials have passed, there will be nothing but peace and joy. Keep in mind that the outcome will be worth all the troubles. Especially if you know that God also uses circumstances to make us look more like Him. Then you will be praising God for the trials instead of cursing Him.

That's my thought for the day :)

Hmm...I believe that most of you that read my blog (the ones that I know of) do not live with your parents anymore. In fact, we are far away from home. What have you learned being far away from your parents? For you who are not even in your own country, do you think you will go back home or move somewhere else?

I have been away from home for 4 years now. The one thing that I learn from my journey is to be independent and just to grow up! One thing that I am still learning is to make my own decision. It is not easy to make a decision. You have to take into consideration all the impacts of your decision. What is the best decision for everyone? I don't particularly like making a crucial decision. No wonder there is a saying that being an adult means you can make decision. I have enjoyed being on my own and learn to be independent. Of course from time to time, there is always the homesickness feeling. There is also time when you really regret your decision to go somewhere far. However, I trust that my being far away from home is God's plan for me and I have to keep trusting Him. I plan to stay here (not going back home) after I graduate. That has always been my intention. My parents used to say that if I can have a better chance here, why not just stay here, especially that they have spent so much money for me for my education here. I know that I won't be able to use what I learn here at home (my major is accountancy and the system is different). But, lately they have changed their mind. They want me to be closer to home :) Now, that's another decision to be made. I still have time to think about it and I will do whatever God wants me to do. Just so you know, right now, my heart is still set to stay here :))

Team vs. Individual

For you basketball fans out there, sure you know that the NBA season is over now and Pistons (Detroit) is the winner for this season. I wasn't a basketball fans before, but I got hooked this season :) What amazed me was how many people hate the Lakers (Sorry to the Los Angeles people who are reading this post). The only support that Lakers had was from the Los Angeles itself. I found out later that the reason why people hate Lakers was because they are too arrogant. Some of the members joined Lakers just because they want to win - meaning they think that Lakers for sure will win the championship (this is true for Karl Malone and Gary Payton - according to the news). The reason why Pistons beat Lakers this year was because Pistons was aware of the importance of a team while Lakers put individualistic above the team. None of the Pistons stood out more than the other while each of the Lakers tried to steal his own fame. The Pistons knew that it is a team game and not popularity contest.

Is a team always better than an individual?

I guess it depends on the situation. There is a situation where being in a team is better than if there is only one person who does everything. In sports with teams, like basketball, soccer, football, hockey, baseball, etc, of course the existence of the feeling of teamness will always be better than when each player wants to be recognized, hence sacrifices the team. But there is also other situation where you can get things done quickly if it is only you, for example an interior designer, a webmaster, etc.

After writing all these, I realize again that there are two kinds of people. One who is better working in a team and one who is better working by him/herself. Have you ever met a person who is a perfectionist? You know right away that he is better working by himself because he cannot let other people take control of his work. He wants to make sure that everything is just the way he wants it to be, thus he is better doing it all by himself. On the other hand, there is other person who needs someone else to keep encouraging him to do his work. He needs someone there to make sure that he doesn't slack off.

So what will happen if an individualistic person ends up in a team environment and vice versa? Well, I believe that no one is all one side. Even though you are an individualistic, there is also a small teamness spirit in you. It is important that we know what setting we are in and what's the best attitude we should give. We have to be flexible in order to succeed. Look what happened to the Lakers when they did not realize the importance of putting a team mode during the game. As much as we like being who we think we really are, sometime we have to control our active side and bring our passive side out.

Imagine what will happen in a church if everyone wants to be recognized for his/her effort? One of our needs is to be recognized. That is our need, alright. But don't forget that God is still above us and He is the only One who deserves all the recognition and all the praise. Don't let your self esteem and your pride causes you to forget who actually deserve it all.

This Too Shall Pass

For all of you who read this message, whatever you are going through, know that God is faithful and this too shall pass.

This Too Shall Pass
by: Yolanda Adams and Crystal Lewis

In the middle of the turbulence surrounding you
These trying times that are so hard to endure
In the middle of what seems to be your darkest hour
Hold fast your heart and be assured

This too shall pass
Like every night that's come before it
He'll never give you more than you can bear
This too shall pass
So in this thought be comforted
It's in His Hands
This too shall pass

The Father knows the tears you cry before they fall
He feels your pain, His heart and yours are one
The Father knows that sorrow's heavy chains are strong
But with His strength, you'll overcome

This too shall pass
Like every night that's come before it
He'll never give you more than you can bear
This too shall pass
So in this thought be comforted
It's in His Hands
This too shall pass

So set your eyes upon the mountain
And lift your hands up to the sky
And let His arms of love surround you
And take you to the other side

This too shall pass
Like every night that's come before it
He'll never give you more than you can bear
This too shall pass
So in this thought be comforted
It's in His Hands
This too shall pass

Remember, He will NEVER give you more than you can take. He is the Father who creates us and He is the only one who knows us best. He knows our capabilities and He doesn't want us to suffer. Jesus loves us and how I thank God for His love.

Value Test

from: Our Daily Bread (June 7th)

Robert Ginnett, a researcher at the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, has found that the values we claim to have are not as closely linked to our actual behavior as we might like to believe.

One business executive, who said his 5-year-old daughter was the most important part of his life, realized that he usually went to work before she got up in the morning and often returned home after she was in bed at night. So to spend time with her, he took her to work with him one Saturday. After looking around his office, she asked, "Daddy, is this where you live?" He may have acknowledged that his daughter was important, but his behavior revealed what he truly valued.

In our relationship with Christ, He asks for our obedience, not a warm feeling or a statement of belief. He asked those following Him, "Why do you call Me 'Lord,Lord,' and not do the things I say?" (Luke 6:46). Jesus illustrated His point with the parable of the wise and foolish builders (Luke 6:47-9). The rock solid foundation of the wise builder's house illustrates the result of our obedience to God. This honors Christ and enables us to withstand the storms of life.

What we do, more than anything we say, reveals what we truly value the most.

~David McCasland~

Hmm...it makes you think, doesn't it? Have all the things that I done really show what I truly feels? For example, the thing that came to my mind, I do love my family, very much. But do they know that? Are they aware that I actually, truly love them? Has my behavior shown that fact? Does God know that I truly love Him and I will do anything He wants me to? I really do hope so.

What Will Matter?

Well, apparently I am the only who can't hear the song in my own website. But that's okay. Because the most important thing is you, the readers, can hear it and be blessed. I have the CD and I can hear it anytime anywhere I want.

I haven't posted anything from Quick Inspirations for quite a while. So, here's one.

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no days, no hours or minutes. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.

Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.

So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will all expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.

It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived.

It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Your gender, skin color, ethnicity will be irrelevant.

So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave.

What will matter is not your success, but your significance.

What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage and sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.

What will matter is not your competence, but your character.

What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.

What will matter is not your memories, but the memories of those who loved you.

What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.

Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.

It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.

Choose to live a life that matters.

~by: Michael Josephson~
From: Quick Inspirations

A little addition from my heart.
What will matter is not how much you have, but how you live your life.
What will matter is not what you do, but your faith in Him, your belief in Him.
What will matter is not yourself, but who you serve in this world. When you are ready to go home to meet your creator, how do you think He will greet you? Will He know who you are? Or will He ask His angel to greet you instead? Or will He dismiss you?

Can you think of anything else? What do you think will matter?

One Night With The King (Part II)

Hello all. Hello Iren *wink*. I hope you all are doing well. Remember my last post titled 'one night with the king'? Apparently they have the pre-released CD and I bought it last week and it came to my mail today! Yea! The only thing is that they sent me the wrong CD. I ordered the pre-released soundtrack that has 8 songs in it and they sent me Jeannie Tenney's pre-released CD which has only 2 songs in it. So I called them today and they said they are going to send me the soundtrack (I paid for the soundtrack). But I am not that disappointed because the song that I wanted 'One Night with The King' is in Jeannie Tenney's CD too. I've been listening to the song over and over and trying to grasp the real meanings.

I don't know how to post the song in my blog. If anyone knows, let me know so you can hear the song too. Anyway, here's the lyrics.

One Night with The King
by Jeannie Tenney

One night with the king
it changes everything
one day in his course
could forever change my cross
one moment in his presence
and I'll never be the same
one night with the king
it changes everything

One night with the king
it changes everything
one day in his course
could forever change my cross
one moment in his presence
and I'll never be the same
one night with the king
it changes everything

From a peasant to a queen
It have been my destiny
to be chosen for such a time as this
I didn't know that all my dreams
could become reality
until I saw his face, his love after me

One night with the king
Oh, it changes everything
one day in his course
could forever change my cross
one moment in his presence
one moment in his presence
one moment in his presence
and I'll never be the same
one night with the king
it changes..
one day in his course
it changes..
one night with the king
it changes everything

So what do you think? The song is very simple, yet the meaning is deep. The song refers to Esther and how she became a queen. However, we can also personalize the song. This is how I personalize the song.

The king is Jesus. It only takes one night with Him or even one moment with Him to make me realize what I've been missing in my entire life. Meeting Him, forever changes my life. I had plans on what I will do or accomplish in the next ten years. Yes, I am a planner. After meeting Him, what seemed so important before became less or not important at all. My focus in life has changed. It takes only one time meeting Him, one time being touched by Him, one encounter with Him, knowing how much He loves me, it takes only that one baby step to wake me up and realize that He's been there for me all the time.

From a peasant to a queen...Do you know that we are all Christ's brides? We are His queens! He loves us as a king loves his queen. How am I grateful for His love. It has been my destiny - I know that the timing could not have been more perfect when He decided that it's time for me to come back to Him. All my dreams, what are dreams anyway if there is no Jesus? With Him, I am fully satisfied. I know that He wants what's best for me and He will give it to me in His time. He'll know when I am ready to receive the blessings. My dreams came true when I found my home in Him.

Truly, one night with Him, it changes everything.

Can you relate to the song? I will be blessed to hear your stories.
