The House You Build

Hello everyone. This is an email that someone forwarded to me. I am pretty sure that most of you have read this story before. However, I think it's good to be reminded all the time. So, here you go.

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employercontractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a
dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter. This is your house, he said, 'my gift to you.' The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us.

We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock we realize we have to live in the house we have built.

If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently. But we cannot go back.

You are the carpenter.

Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Life is a do-it-yourself project, someone has said. Your attitudes and the choices you make today, build the 'house' you live in tomorrow.

Build wisely!

Please pray for me as I will pray for you. May we be reminded of His love, grace, kindness, and mercy all the time. God bless us.

Christians and Clubbing

There are a lot of different opinions regarding Christians going clubbing. What do you think? I have wondered myself whether it is appropriate for Christians to go clubbing or not. I asked a pastor and this is what he said: (It will not be the exact words, but these are the main points of what he said.)

"It is true that most people will say that if it's not them, who will reach out to these people. It will also depend on what the purpose on them going to the clubs and how strong they are. 90% of the time, they will be pulled down instead of them pulling other people up. All of us go to church every Sunday to put on restraints on ourselves, that is we shouldn't lie, we shouldn't cheat on our spouses, we shouldn't blaspheme, and many more other things. When we go to the clubs, we put off the restraints. We go to clubs to be free and be wild. The music and all the activities that going on the clubs, made us do so. You know what I'm talking about. Every place belongs to someone. The church is the Lord's house but the club is the devil's house. So I think, Christians should not go clubbing."

After hearing what he said, I fully agree with it. I have gone clubbing at one time on my life and I admit I am not proud of it. But amazingly, after I am saved, that wanting to go clubbing feeling disappeared. I can't even really dance as I used to anymore. You know, people said their lives changed or they've been changed when they got saved. That is 100% true and I am a witness. I am a living witness of Jesus, my Lord.

So what do you say?
